Electronics Give Skin a Sensory Upgrade

Your skin is the largest organ on the body and takes a lot of abuse over time. Skin protects us, keeps us at the right temperature, sheds when it's not needed and replenishes itself continuously. Researchers are now wanting to take the property of skin to a whole new level. They are tossing around the idea of using an 'electronic skin' to help people with artificial limbs to regain sensory abilities and can help machines understand the differences in force that are required to grip objects. Tiny stretchable electronic patches of skin will ideally be able to accomplish this task. Skin is taking an upgrade and this could mean a whole new world of experiences for people that have suffered the losses of limbs and wear prosthetics. This may be a large undertaking for the technological and medical society but this is the future...
